Who is a Dad ? Happy Father’s Day
I could not let the day end without making a post.
For two reasons:
1. I miss my dad
2. It is a joy to watch my husband, our brothers and friends step into their role as a father.
So, who is a Dad ?
A dad is:
1. Selfless
2. Patient
3. Prayerful
Selfless
Where to start?
For as long as I can remember, my dad has been with me, every single school event, every birthday, graduation, wedding and most importantly, Baptism.
He has quite literally made it his point of duty to put me first at every moment of my life and for that, I am truly blessed.
There was never a question in my mind as to whether he loved me because he said it every day and showed it every way he knew.
It is quite uncanny that at this very moment, a song we would normally listen to on sunday afternoons is playing.
Safe to say our loved ones never truly leave us because we live with them in our hearts.
So, If you didn’t know before.
I have a special love/ a special bond with my daddy. I love him deeply and although I wish he were still here. It comforts me to know he is no longer ailing from illness.
Patience
There is another special bond I wish to speak of and that is of someone I am bonded to sacrementally in Marriage.
Yes, you guessed it! my husband.
I am overjoyed and grateful to watch my husband interact with our children.
Surely, anyone with children knows it is not easy chasing a busy toddler and calming an infant with a voice fit for the choir.
Yet, he uses those opportunities to grow in patience. Transforming the gripes into laughter and ease.
He makes it easy for me to do my motherly duties daily, without fail and it is a joy to watch him Lead our family in all things.
It all seemed to be God’s plan to allow us to do medical school and internship together. Initially to our discontent but later to our joy because soon we would end up in the most significant group project of our lives: raising a family.
Prayerful
How loving is it to have a prayerful husband?
Even more loving is the Father who raised the prayerful husband.
What can I say?
I am beyond grateful for him. He has set the tone for his sons and so many young men to be strong Catholics.
With over 30 years of marriage and dedication to the family, continued service to the poor, elderly, and basically showing up for anyone in need. He truly lives as Christ taught and that is all we can ask of anyone in this
So let’s say Happy Father’s Day to all the wonderful fathers!
You are loved and appreciated, words simply cant say it enough but we try. 😊

Beautiful post! While neither my partner nor I were blessed with good fathers, I look forward to marriage and parenthood, and changing those generational ills.

Can you imagine the effect on future generations when it is broken! It is going to be beautiful. I wish you both the very best on your journey together.
