5 Benefits of Breastfeeding
This is my second time breastfeeding and it hasn’t been easy but I quite enjoy it.
It is a great act of love I think, to give of yourself so that your baby can be nourished.
In this post, we will go through five benefits of breastfeeding.
- Bonding
I always saw this word whenever I read about breastfeeding but honestly, it’s hard to explain, it’s one of those words you feel, like love, if you get what I mean.
Gazing into your baby’s eyes gives you this indescribable feeling. It’s just… Beautiful.
I’ll leave it at that. God knew what he was doing.
2. Saves money
If you’re reading this and you live in this country, you know a can of Enfamil costs about $3,000 and it doesn’t last that long. Maybe a few days depending on your baby.
You don’t need to be a math wiz to see then that overtime formula will cost you, NUFF MONEY.
That’s why the good Lord gave us breasts, to save us money because motherhood is hard enough.
3. Weight loss
This is not like those ads you see on TV that promise you weight loss, this one actually works and I am living proof.
Breastfeeding burns approximately 500 extra calories per day. This might explain why you’ll feel more hungry if you’re a nursing mama.
4. No need to make bottles
A well needed break from dishwashing is another gift that breastfeeding provides, if you just spent however long rocking and bopping to get your baby to sleep and you now have a backache, at least you can relax for a bit and read this blog post without having a thousand bottles to wash.
5. Lowers risk of breast and ovarian cancer
Last but certainly not least, it lowers your risk of both breast and ovarian cancer and Type 2 Diabetes, if that’s not another blessing I don’t know what is, so sign me up, please!
If you’re like me and you’ve lost a relative from cancer then this is another gift that breastfeeding provides.
These are 5 benefits, but I should probably say gifts of breastfeeding given by God, to us Mothers. Enjoy the journey however short or long it may be!
‘Til next week,
Abby
